East Surrey League - Men Epsom men played their fifth league game of the season away against Bletchingley on Saturday 31st May 2025. They won on 1 rink, lost on 2 rinks & lost overall 39 - 55 (2 - 8). Details: Rink 2 David Bragg Bob Blaker David Fearn Les Owen won 15 - 12 The scores were level 6 - 6 after 9 ends and still level 12 - 12 on end 16. Epsom won the last 2 ends to win by 3 shots. Bowls England - Tony Allcock Trophy (Over 60's Two Mixed Fours) Epsom travelled to Horley to play in the Tony Allcock Trophy on Friday 30th May 2025. They won on 1 rink, lost on the second & lost overall 32 - 34. The game was lost over the last 3 ends across the 2 rinks. Epsom led 16 - 12 after 9 ends & 30 - 25 on ends 15. They were outscored 2 - 9 over the last 3 ends to lose by 2 shots. Vilamoura Mixed League Epsom played their second Vilamoura match of the season against Cheam & won on both rinks. They won 44 - 29 (6 - 0). Bowls England - Top Club (Top 11) Epsom men played at home against Purley in the Bowls England Top Club on Sunday 25th May 2025. They won on all disciplines. Details: Rink 5 Singles: David Bragg won 21 - 9 David led 12 - 5 after 10 ends & 19 - 8 on end 18. He won by 12 shots after 21 ends. Rink 2 Two Wood: Bob Blaker won 17 - 6 Bob led 10 - 5 after 10 ends and won the next 5 ends to lead 17 - 5. He won by 11 shots after 16 ends. Rink 1 Pairs: John Hart David Fearn won 21 - 17 John & David led 13 - 1 after 5 ends & 16 - 7 on end 10. They led by 12 shots (21 - 9) on end 15 & won by 4 shots. Rink 4 Triples: Mick Cooper John Warren Norman Mann won 16 - 12 (17 ends) Epsom led 8 - 4 after 9 ends & 13 - 11 on end 15. They won by 4 shots. Rink 3 Fours: Roger Jackson Kevin Phillips Martin Harbottle Les Owen won 24 - 11 (17 ends) Epsom led 15 - 4 after 9 ends & by 12 shots (22 - 10) on end 15. They won by 13 shots. Final Score: Epsom 5 Purley 0 Mick Cooper, Roger Jackson & Kevin Phillips played in their first B E Top Club Competition. Many thanks to Frank Thompson & Richard Price for marking the singles games. Details: Rink 3 Rob Murkin John Hart John Warren Jim Scott lost 14 - 26 Epsom were 6 - 10 down after 10 ends & lost the next 3 ends to go further behind 6 - 21. They lost by 12 shots. Rink 4 David Bragg Bob Blaker David Fearn Les Owen lost 15 - 16 Epsom led 9 - 6 after 9 ends, but the scores were level 11 - 11 on end 13. The scores were still level with one end to play & Epsom dropped 1 shot to lose by 1. Bowls England Two Fours Epsom men played away against Cheam Fields in the BE Two Fours on Friday 23rd May 2025. They won on 1 rink, lost on 1 rink & won overall 30 - 25. Details: Rink 2 John Wellard Keith Roberts John Warren Norman Mann lost 11 - 15 Epsom led 7 - 5 after 9 ends. However, the scores were level 10 - 10 on end 14. They went behind 10 - 12 on the next end & lost by 4 shots. Rink 3 Roger Jackson Bob Blaker David Fearn Martin Harbottle won 19 - 10 Epsom led all evening. Men's Friendly Epsom men travelled to Purley to play in a friendly triples match on Thursday 22nd May 2025. They won on 2 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 58 - 53. After 9 ends across the 3 rinks Epsom led 31 - 20 & by 10 shots (49 - 39) on ends 15. They won by 5 shots. Details: Rink 2 Ray Evans Fred Read John Warren lost 17 - 22 Epsom led 16 - 7 after 12 ends, but lost 5 of the remaining ends to lose by 5 shots. Rink 3 Nick Rowan Richard Price Les Owen won 22 - 19 Epsom were 10 - 12 down after 9 ends, but led 17 - 13 on end 15. They won by 3 shots. Rink 4 Phil Sims Frank Thompson David Fearn won 19 - 12 The score was 5 - 4 to Epsom after 7 ends, but they won the next 5 ends to lead 14 - 4. They won 4 of the last 5 ends to win by 7 shots. Final Score: Epsom 58 Purley 53 Nick Rowan played his first Men's friendly match for Epsom Bowling Club. Did you know Epsom first played Purley in a friendly match in 2016. Since then there have been 9 games with Epsom winning 8 of these. They lost in 2019. |

Ladies' Friendly Epsom Ladies played away against Banstead Neville on Tuesday 20th May 2025. They won on both rinks & the match 31 - 16. After 9 ends across both rinks Epsom were 10 - 13 down, but led 26 - 14 on ends 15. They went on to win by 15 shots. Details: Rink 2 Sandy Cooper Sue Carter Christine Summerfield Sandie Harvey won 17 - 7 Epsom were 3 - 5 down after 8 ends, but won the next 6 ends to lead 13 - 5. They went on to win by 11 shots. Rink 3 Lynn Phillips Sue Skinner Frances Suttonwood Mary Green won 14 - 10 Epsom were 6 - 8 down after 9 ends, but won the next 7 ends to lead 14 - 8. They lost the last 2 ends, but won by 4 shots. Bowls Surrey - Mixed Pairs Sandy & Mick Cooper played against Horley in the Bowls Surrey Mixed Pairs on Monday 19th May 2025. This turned out quite a remarkable game for the Epsom Pair. Epsom led 5 - 2 after 5 ends, but lost he next 8 ends to trail 5 - 15. However, they won the next 5 ends scoring 2, 4, 1, 3, & 1 shots to tie the scores 15 - 15. Epsom were 28 - 30 down after 9 ends across the 3 rinks, but were level 43 - 43 after 15 ends. However, they were outscored 4 - 13 by Dorking over the last 3 ends to lose by 9 shots. After 9 ends across the 2 rinks Epsom were 12 - 19 down, but went on to win by 5 shots. Details: Singles: David Bragg lost 8 - 21 David led 8 - 7 after 12 ends, but lost all the remaining ends to lose by 13 shots (19 ends played). Two Wood: Bob Baker lost 4 - 17 After 8 ends Bob was 3 - 9 down & lost on the 16th end by 13 shots. Pairs: John Hart David Fearn lost 13 - 17 Epsom led 10 - 2 after 7 ends, but lost the next 5 ends to go 10 - 11 down. They lost by 4 shots.
