The Annual Windeler Competition took place on Monday 21st August 2023.

The winners were Penny Payne, Roger Jackson, Ruth Baker & Mary Green & the runners up Judy Jackson, Martin Harbottle & Frank Thompson.
After round robin games the final was played & won on an extra end.
Many thanks to Ruth Baker who organised the game & to all those who helped with refreshments.

The Windeler Cup is a Cup with plinth. It is hallmarked Birmingham 1926 Silver. It was presented to the Club by Mr B C Windeler in 1927 & it was originally awarded to the winners of a mixed fours competition.
In recent years the competition is decided on the day – depending on how many members turn up to play.
Teams are then sorted by the Men’s & Ladies’ Captains & the format of play is also decided on the day.
At the end of the afternoon the trophy is presented to the winners.
This was Roger's first trophy since joining Epsom Bowling Club.

This Competition was ended in 2001 and replaced with the Past Times Competition in 2002.
The Competition is played as follows:-
Each Club enters two rinks and one rink plays at home the other away. The winner is decided on the total shots scored.
The Challengers (i.e. the home team) will play an extra end should the scores be level at the end of normal play to decide the winner.
Epsom Bowling Club won the Times Herald in 1975 and reached the Final of the Past Times Competition in 2010.
Epsom have lost in the Final of the Times Herald on three occasions (1980, 1990 & 1997).
Over the years Epsom have played Chipstead 5 times in this Competition. They have won 3 & lost 2.
