Epsom Bowling Club - Women's Section

Minutes of an Inaugural Meeting in the Women's Room held on 17th July 1946

Present:

Mesdames Birnie, Fisher, Hammond, Hoare, Luckey, Mr S J J Fox (the Club Secretary), and

Mr R Law (the Vice-Captain) in  the  chair.

 

The Chairman welcomed the ladies, assured them of the full support of the Club Committee, and wished their new section every success.

Proposed by Mrs Hoare, seconded by Mrs Fisher that a Women's Section of the Epsom Bowling Club be formed to conform to the requirements of the Surrey County Women's Bowling Association and application for affiliation be made.  Carried unanimously.

It was agreed that a Captain, Hon. Secretary-Treasurer, and a Committee of three be appointed.

Captain:  Mrs JHoare was proposed by Mrs Hammond and seconded by Mrs Luckey.  Carried

Honorary Secretary-Treasurer:  Mrs Bridges was proposed by Mrs Hoare and seconded by Mrs Luckey.  Carried

Committee:  Mesdames Birnie, Fisher and Hammond were elected.

The Club Secretary undertook to report the proceedings at the next Meeting of the Committee of Management.

It was decided that a report of the proceedings be made known to all Women Members of the Club.

There being no other business, a hearty vote of thanks to the Chairman concluded the Meeting.

These are the actual minutes from the first Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday 12th November 1946.

Epsom Bowling Club - Women's Section

Minutes of FIRST ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

1. Present:

Mesdames Birnie, Fisher, Gardner, Hammond, Hoare, Luckey and Price

2. Apologies

Were received from Mmes. Bridges, Turner and Wells.

3. Chairman

Mrs Hammond was elected for the meeting

4.Minutes

The minutes of the Inaugural Meeting held on 17th July 1946 were read and signed without comment.

5. Report for Season

The report for Season ending 12th November was tabled and read by the Captain

(Mrs Hoare). It was reported that the affiliation form duly completed for Membership of The Surrey County Women's Bowling Association was in the hands of the Club Secretary.

6. Regulations

Regulations accompanied by a letter dated 9th November 1946 from the Club Hon. Secretary were tabled and adopted.

7. Officers and   Committee

Proposed by Mrs Luckey and seconded by Mrs Gardner that those retiring be re-elected.  Carried

8. Challenge Cup

Subject to approval of the Club Committee it was unanimously agreed to accept

Mrs Hoare's offer to present a Cup when obtainable for Annual Championship Competition by the Women Members and governed by the Club Regulations.  It was recommended that the competition for this Cup should not prevent Women Members entering the Club Singles Championship under Regulation 2.

9. Programme 1947

Programme for Season 1947.

i  It was decided to arrange an invitation match for an opening day in May of the Epsom Women's section and to invite five other Clubs including the Club to which the President of the Surrey County Women's Bowling Assoc. is attached.  It was agreed that the Captain and Secretary should complete the details.

Also, on the same day, it was decided to invite all our non-playing Women members for the afternoon.

ii  Matches:  A letter was tabled from Mrs Bridges informing us that Bookham Ladies Bowling Club would like matches next season.

It was decided that Bookham, and Walton & Tadworth Women's Bowling Clubs be invited for Hone and Away Matches on Tuesdays or Thursdays during the 1947 Season.

iii  It was decided to close the season with a match with the men.

There being no other business the Captain and Chairman were thanked for the work they had done to make the Meeting a success.
