Indoor Bowls - Sutton Indoor Bowling Club David Sowdon & his partner won the drawn pairs & Les Owen & partner lost in the main pairs at Sutton Indoor Finals played on Sunday 15th April 2012. David had a comfortable win, but Les was soundly beaten in his match. Well done to both players for reaching the Finals. |

Mole Valley Cup Team: Tony Dunn Jan Allum Jo Ellis Peter Miller. Epsom lost by just 4 shots to Epsom Park, but had a great chance of winning on the last end. Needing 4 to win on the last end there was a shot on for Peter, but unfortunately the jack went off the rink. This meant one shot to Epsom Park. Well done to everyone who took part in this competition. |

Jubilee Cup Details: Rink 4 Ted Ray Roy Doughty David Sowdon Les Owen drew 20 - 20 This turned out to be a close game up to 10 ends, but then Epsom fell behind 11 - 18 after 15 ends. They played very well over the last 6 ends and went into the last end 19 - 20. However, they managed to secure the draw with a 'lucky' bowl. Rink 5 Martin Harbottle John Huxford Sylvia Pearce Ron Mew lost 11 - 24 Epsom competed very well for 15 ends in this game when the score was 11 - 11. Epsom then fell away badly losing the remaining 6 ends dropping a total of 13 shots. Final Result Epsom 31 South London 44 Thanks to all the players who played in this tournament. Overall Epsom had a very good tournament. |

Mole Valley Cup Details: Team: Bill Lawrence Ruth Nixon Jo Ellis Les Owen won 19 - 10 Epsom dominated this game throughout. They led 6 - 3 at 5 ends, extended the lead to 12 - 5 after 10 ends finally winning by 9 shots. (only 16 ends played). Epsom play in the Semi Final on Friday 16th March 2012 at 6pm. |

Mole Valley Cup Team: Tony Dunn Jo Ellis Jan Allum Peter Miller Details: Epsom was in control of this game all evening. They lead 6 - 1 after 5 ends and continued to play well. After 15 ends they led 18 - 10 and went on to win by 12 shots. This win leaves Epsom top of the section with one more game to play. |

Jubilee Cup This turned out to be a very exciting game with Epsom winning on the very last end on rink 5 when they scored 5 shots. Details: Rink 4 Martin Harbottle John Huxford Terry Hoye Ron Mew won 11 - 8 This rink found themselves 3 - 6 behind after 8 ends, but then won the next 5 ends scoring a total of 8 shots. They dropped 2 shots over the last 2 ends to win by 3 shots. Rink 5 Ted Ray Roy Doughty David Sowdon Les Owen lost 15 - 17 This rink was behind all evening due to the fact that the Raynes Park skip was bowling very well. After 10 ends they were behind 7 - 12 and had a bad penultimate end when they dropped 4 shots. The last end turned out to be very crucial. When Roy played his second bowl Epsom were 2 shots down. However, Roy touched the jack over to 2 Epsom bowls. David then drew another for Epsom to hold 4 shots. The Raynes Park skip missed the head narrowly with his first bowl, but Les then drew a 5th shot. The Raynes Park skip played an identical bowl to his first and slid through the same gap to leave Epsom holding the 5 shots for an overall victory by just 1 shot. Final Result Epsom 26 Raynes Park 25 Epsom now play South London in the quarter finals. |

Mole Valley Cup Epsom won their second game in the Mole Valley Cup on Friday 17th February 2012 by beating Oxshott 17 - 11. Details: Maggie O'Sullivan Jan Allum Peter Miller Ron Mew won 17 - 11 Epsom got off to a slow start & found themselves 1 - 4 behind after 5 ends. After 10 ends the scores were level 7 - 7. Epsom had the better of the rest of the game going up 12 - 9 after 15 ends and finally winning by 6 shots. There are 2 more games to be played in the round robin stage of this competition. |

Jubilee Cup Details: Rink 2 Martin Harbottle John Huxford Sylvia Pearce Jim Scott won 16 - 14 Epsom held control over the first 10 ends when they held a 12 - 9 shot advantage. Epsom then had a loose end when they dropped 5 shots to trail 12 - 14. They fought back well winning the remaining 2 ends to secure a 2 shot overall victory. Rink 3 Ted Ray Roy Doughty David Sowdon Les Owen won 13 - 9 After 10 ends Epsom held a slender 1 shot lead, 8 - 7. West Wimbledon drew level, 9 - 9 after 12 ends, but Epsom won the last 3 ends scoring a total of 4 shots to secure a 4 shot win. Final Score: Epsom 29 West Wimbledon 23 Epsom now play Raynes Park on Monday 20th February 2012 at 6.30pm in a must win situation to qualify for the next stage. |

Ladies' Match v King George Details: Rink 2 Audrey Jones Maureen Trumble Dolly Snow Jo Ellis lost 10 - 30 This rink struggled all through the game and only scored on 6 ends. Rink 3 Maggie O'Sullivan Sue Needham Ruth Nixon Gill Sperring lost 16 - 24 After 12 ends Epsom was 4 shots behind, 4 - 10, but then King George scored a total of 12 shots over the next 4 ends to take the lead 22 - 7. However, Epsom fought back well over the remaining ends out scoring King George 9 -2. They eventually lost by 8 shots. Final Score: Epsom 26 King George 54 |

Club AGM At this meeting Arthur Upward stood down as Treasurer after 14 years service. A presentation of Gardening Vouchers was presented to Arthur in recognition of his services to the Club. Lyz Warren became the first Lady Member to hold the post of Club Secretary. Brian Kenyon, Geoff Purrott & Ron Snow were elected to become Honorary Vice Presidents of Epsom Bowling Club in recognition of their hard work over 12 years. George Mitchell & Bill Truckle, Auditors for many years also stood down at this meeting and were replaced with David Huchison & Derek Martin. Amongst several items discussed at the meeting it was decided to raise the Annual Subscription to £140 (from £130). Social Membership will be £18 & Associate Membership £12.50. The next AGM will be held on Friday 11th January 2013. |

Jubilee Cup Details: Rink 2 Graham Pilbrow Roy Doughty Terry Hoye Les Owen lost 7 - 15 This was a very close game for 8 ends, but Epsom then went behind 5 - 9 after 10 ends. They were outplayed over the remaining 5 ends eventually losing by 8 shots. Rink 3 Maggie O'Sullivan Sylvia Pearce Ron Mew Jim Scott lost 10 - 11 Chessington were always in front in this game. After 10 ends Epsom were 5 - 10 behind, but fought well over the remaining ends to eventually lose by just 1 shot. Final Score Epsom 17 Chessington 'A' 26 Epsom 0 points Chessington 'A' 4 points |

Indoor match v Mole Valley Details: Rink 1 Clive Allum Bill Ellis Geoff Purrott David Sowdon lost 20 - 22 This rink recovered well from being 4 - 15 down after 10 ends to only lose by 2 shots. Rink 2 Brian Kenyon Eddie Needham Peter Miller Jo Ellis lost 17 - 28 This rink competed well for the first 10 ends when the score was 9 - 9. Unfortunately they were outplayed in the second half and lost by 11 shots. Rink 3 Bill Lawrence Sue Needham Cyril Newman Jan Allum lost 17 - 18 After being behind 6 - 10 after 10 ends this rink competed well with the Mole Valley rink over the second half and only lost by the 1 shot. Rink 4 Janet Newman Eileen Mills John Huxford John Warren lost 19 - 21 This rink also had an even first half when the score was 8 - 8 after 10 ends. They eventually lost by 2 shots. Jubilee Cup Details: Rink 4 Graham Pilbrow Roy Doughty Terry Hoye Ted Ray won 18 - 9 This was a very even game
for 6 ends when the scores were level 4 - 4. The rink went
ahead 12 - 4 after 10 ends, but Ashtead came back to narrow the lead to
12 - 9 after 13 ends. Epsom finished with 2 shots on end 14 and 4
shots on the 15th end to win by 9 shots. This rink got off to an excellent start and led 12 - 0 after just 6 ends. Ashtead then scored 10 shots over the next 4 ends to close the gap to 12 - 10. The last few ends were evenly contested, but Epsom went on to win by 4 shots. Final Score: Epsom 36 Ashtead 23 Roy Doughty played in his very first game in this Competition. |

Green Maintenance October 14th 2011 Every year in October a
team of helpers visit the Club on many occasions to prepare the green
for the next season. A huge amount of work is undertaken to ensure that
the Club has a excellent bowling surface. The Club would like to thank
these members who give up a great deal of their time to do this work.
The Club hires the firm Ground Force to do the initial spreading with

Indoor Match v Donyngs Details: Rink 4 Anne Hoffmann Roy Doughty John Warren Peter Miller lost 12 - 30 Epsom got off to a poor start and found themselves 19 - 0 down after 7 ends. They picked up well & started to get on the scoreboard. They eventually lost by 18 shots. Rink 5 Brian Kenyon Lyz Warren John Huxford Les Owen lost 11 - 31 Epsom struggled all afternoon to find the speed of the green and were well beaten by 20 shots. Rink 6 Bob Blaker Vic Phillips Derek Hoffmann David Sowdon won 30 - 15 After 10 ends Epsom led 23 - 0, but in the second half Donyngs picked up a few shots to get on the scorecard. Epsom went on to win comfortably by 17 shots. Final Score: Epsom 53 Donyngs 74 |

Miller's Triples Thirty six members turned up for the meal & presentation when they enjoyed Cumberland Sausages, Mashed Potatoes & Baked Beans. This was followed by Apple Strudel & Ice Cream. After the meal Peter Miller presented the winners trophy to Thee Guys & A Doll - Eileen Mills, Graham Naish, Pat Buckley & Tony Dunn. Many thanks go to Peter for organising the Competition & for putting on an excellent meal. Thanks also go to all the helpers on the evening. September Open Event On the 11th September the following teams qualified:- Bookham, Epsom 'A' (Geoff Purrott, Cyril Newman, Pat Buckley & Peter Miller), Supreme, Leatherhead, Epsom Park & Purley Bury. Epsom won 21 - 10 against Chessington. On the 18th September the following teams qualified:- Sutton, Wallington, Newdigate, Carshalton Beeches, Purley Wanderers, & Old Coulsdon. The Final was held on Sunday 25th September and the winners were Supreme. Purley Wanderers were runners up & Epsom Park third. Money prizes & medals were presented to all three teams. Epsom 'A' drew 19 - 19 against Wallington. There have been 11 individual Clubs that have won this competition. Wallington have won it on four occasions. Over the three weeks a large number of Epsom members helped to make the Competition a success. |

Mixed Friendly v The Piscatorial Bowling
Society Details: Rink 1 Audrey Jones Maureen Trumble Roy Doughty Terry Hoye lost 19 - 20 After 10 ends Epsom was 7 - 12 behind, but levelled the scores, 15 - 15 after 15 ends. The remaining ends were keenly contested and Epsom led 19 - 17 going into the last end but dropped 3 shots on the 21st end to lose by just the one shot. Rink 2 Vic Phillips Anne Hoffmann Brian Kenyon David Sowdon won 19 - 18 After 10 ends Epsom was 6 - 10 behind and went further behind, 9 - 16 after 15 ends. They had the better of the remaining ends and won a very close game by just 1 shot. Rink 3 Tony Dunn Sandra Huxford Len Philpott Les Owen won 30 - 12 Epsom got off to a very good start and led 13 - 5 after 10 ends. The Piscatorials narrowed the gap to 3 shots, 13 - 10 after 12 ends, but Epsom finished strongly scoring 15 shots to 1 against over the last 9 ends to win comfortably by 18 shots. Rink 4 Derek Jones/Bob Blaker Bob Lister Eric Brown Eileen Mills won 28 - 12 Epsom was ahead all throughout this game. They led 10 - 6 after 10 ends, 23 - 7 after 15 ends and won by 16 shots. Rink 5 Olive Phillips Derek Hoffmann John Huxford Ron Mew lost 15 - 25 Epsom struggled in this game all afternoon finding themselves 7 - 11 down after 10 ends, 11 - 14 behind after 15 ends and had a poor last 6 ends to lose by 10 shots. Final Score: Epsom 111 Piscatorials 87 After tea the Piscatorials did their normal raffle when they give kippers as prizes. The raffle raised £122 for good causes.

2011 - A short Summary on all games played (More comprehensive details can be viewed by going to 'Results' & following the links) Coincidentally Epsom played & won the same number of games as last year - 68 played, 40 won. They lost 2 less games - 25, but drew 2 more - 3. Disappointedly there were 10 games cancelled - 4 more than last year. Shots difference was 364 compared to 309 in 2010. Overall the mixed friendly games were the best of the games played as Epsom only lost 2 of the 11 games played. It was pleasing that 48 (men & ladies) played in the mixed matches in 2011. |

Sutton & District Bowling Association - St Raphael Pairs
Final Sutton & District Bowling Association- Yonwin Cup Final Epsom lost against Cheam in the Yonwin Cup for the second year in a row. This was an extremely disappointing end to the season, but Epsom did do a little better than last year. Details: Rink 1 Brian Kenyon Terry Hoye Peter Miller Les Owen won 25 - 10 This rink had an excellent afternoon with all four bowlers playing very well. After a close start they led 11 - 7 after 10 ends and stretched the lead to 19 - 8 after 15 ends. They won comfortably by 15 shots. Rink 2 Stefan Tomm Martin Harbottle Pat Buckley Jim Scott lost 9 - 38 Cheam totally dominated play all afternoon going into a 14 - 1 lead after just 6 ends. Epsom failed to make any progress in the game and when holding shots the Cheam skip played excellent bowls to give Cheam the initiative end after end. They finally lost by 29 shots. Rink 3 John Hart Cyril Newman George Sperring Graham Naish lost 17 - 20 Epsom held a 3 shot lead, 8 - 5 after 8 ends, but then dropped 5 shots to go behind. Epsom regained the lead, 15 - 13 on the 15th end, but Cheam finished well and Epsom lost by 3 shots. Final Score: Epsom 51 Cheam 68 |

Fish & Chip Supper Over 50 members & friends attended and enjoyed an excellent supper supplied by The Frying Squad, a mobile Fish & Chip van parked on the premises. The results of the Friday Club night were announced after the supper and the prizes went to the following:- Ladies - joint winners Audrey Jones & Janet Newman, wooden spoon to Sue Needham Men- joint winners Pat Buckley & John Huxford, wooden spoon to John Warren Over the season 20 ladies & 42 men joined in the Club nights. During the season 'dodgy' prizes were awarded after each Club night and this continued after the Fish & Chips. Prizes ranged from washing up liquid, chocolates, and bottles of wine. A big thanks goes to Cyril Newman for organising, not just the Fish & Chip evening, but the whole season's Friday night Club Nights. Thanks also go to the many helpers who made the evening very successful. |

Ladies' Friendly v Carshalton Details: Rink 3 Audrey Jones Maureen Trumble Gill Sperring won 16 - 8 After 10 ends this rink were 8 - 10 behind, but Carshalton failed to score again and Epsom won by 8 shots. (16 ends played). Rink 4 Sue Needham Maggie O’Sullivan Lyz Warren lost 7 - 19 This rink were only 2 shots down, 5 - 7 after 10 ends, but Carshalton won 7 of the last 8 ends to win comfortably by 12 shots. Rink 5 Ruth Nixon Dolly Snow Eileen Mills lost 11 - 24 This rink were outplayed all afternoon. They were 6 - 13 down after 10 ends, but staged a small recovery to narrow the gap to 4 shots after 13 ends. Carshalton then scored heavily over the remaining 5 leaving Epsom losing by 13 shots. Final Score: Epsom 34 Carshalton 51

In total 789 (842) shots were scored for and 727 (858) against. In all 22 (22) Ladies represented Epsom in the Friendly matches in 2011. The number of rinks won were 25 (28), lost 21 (20) and drawn 0 (2). The best match win came against Ewell 82 - 24 (+58) and the best rink win was in the same match, 36 - 5 (+31). These are the most significant appearances in the Friendly matches by the Ladies: Lyz Warren played in all 17 matches. Men's League v Chipstead Details: Rink 2 Brian Kenyon Derek Jones Terry Hoye Peter Miller lost 21 - 23 Epsom was behind all throughout this game right up to the 17th end when they went ahead 20 - 18. Unfortunately they lost the lead immediately and finally lost by 2 shots. Rink 3 Bill Lawrence Len Philpott Ron Mew Pat Buckley lost 7 - 31 This was a really poor game for Epsom as they found themselves 2 - 17 down after 10 ends, 2 - 23 adrift after 15 ends and finally lost by 24 shots. Rink 4 Geoff Purrott Roy Doughty Cyril Newman David Sowdon lost 15 - 31 Epsom was behind all afternoon on this rink. They were 5 - 15 down after 10 ends, 9 - 23 behind after 15 ends and lost by 16 shots. Rink 5 John Hart Eric Brown George Sperring Graham Naish won 20 - 19 Epsom played well over the first 10 ends and held a 2 shot lead, 10 - 8. Leading 12 - 9 going into the 14th end they dropped 6 shots to go behind 12 - 15. However, they finished well to win 20 - 19. Final Score: Epsom 63 Chipstead 104 Epsom 1 point Chipstead 5 points. Summary of the 2011 Season All 15 (15) games were completed as scheduled. Of these 11 (13) were won, 4 (2) lost and 1 (0) drawn. 1261 (1412) shots were score for and 1074 (975) against. Epsom gained 60½ (68½) points and ended up 4th (2nd ) in the League. The best win was the 114 – 64 result against Caterham, +50, and the best rink win was the 40 – 11 victory against Godstone. Of the 60 rinks played 40 (42) were won and 20 (18) lost. In all 27 (25) members played in the League this year. Ladies' Friendly v Cuddington Details: Rink 1 Maggie O’Sullivan Maureen Trumble Eileen Mills won 22 - 8 Epsom dropped 5 shots on the very first end of this game, then dominated play throughout the rest of the afternoon. After 10 ends they led 9 - 7 and from end 14 to 18 they scored a total of 9 shots without reply to win by 14 shots. Rink 2 Sylvia Smart Anne Hoffmann Lyz Warren lost 21 - 23 Epsom held a 1 shot lead after 10 ends, 13 - 12, and led 18 - 16 after 15 ends. Going into the last end Epsom were 2 shots ahead, but dropped a 4 to lose the rink by 2 shots. Rink 3 Ruth Nixon Maureen Morris Jo Ellis won 19 - 15 This rink dominated play for 12 ends when they led 17 - 5. However, Cuddington won ends 14 - 18 scoring a total of 10 shots to close the gap, but Epsom still won by 4 shots. Final Score: Epsom 62 Cuddington 46 |

Men's Friendly v Oxshott Details: Rink 1 Arthur Upward Bob Blaker Roy Doughty John Warren won 16 - 14 Oxshott had the upper hand right up to the 15th end when they were 13 - 10 ahead, but Epsom finished strongly to win by 2 shots. Rink 2 Tony Dunn Derek Hoffmann Brian Kenyon George Sperring won 22 - 17 Epsom was fully in control of this game when they led 14 - 8 after 10 ends and 20 - 11 after 15 ends. However, they let Oxshott back into the game over the last 6 ends, but they still won by 5 shots. Rink 3 Eddie Needham Derek Jones Alan Wybrow Eric Brown lost 16 - 21 This rink was behind throughout the afternoon. They were 6 - 8 down after 10 ends, 9 - 12 adrift after 15 ends and finally lost by 5 shots. Rink 4 Bill Lawrence David Ruston Len Philpott Ron Snow lost 20 - 22 Epsom played well over 15 ends when they led 16 - 14, but Oxshott came back well to snatch a 2 shot win. Ladies Friendly v The Insurance Ladies Rink 4 Audrey Jones Ruth Nixon Dolly Snow Lyz Warren won 21 - 10 Epsom struggled over the first 10 ends when they found themselves 7 - 9 behind. However, they soon got into the game and went ahead 17 - 9 after 15 ends. They went on to win by 11 shots. Rink 5 Sandra Huxford Trish Tewfik Maureen Trumble Gill Sperring won 27 - 13 This rink had a very impressive start and led 13 - 1 after just 5 ends. They remained in control all afternoon and leading 23 - 11 after 15 ends they finally won by 14 shots. Rink 6 Sue Needham Maureen Morris Sylvia Smart Eileen Mills lost 10 - 20 This rink struggled to get into the game and were 3 - 13 down after 10 ends. They came back well up to the 15th end when they were 9 - 14 behind. However the Insurance Ladies finished strongly and Epsom lost the rink by 10 shots. Final Score: Epsom 58 Insurance Ladies 43 With just 2 games to play the Ladies have won 9 out the 15 games played so far. This equals the number of games won last year. |

East Surrey League v Caterham Men Having beaten Caterham in the last two years on both occasions 6 - 0 Epsom men were looking for a similar result. This was not to be as they were well beaten by 16 shots overall and lost 3 of the 4 rinks. This was an extremely disappointing performance. Details: Rink 1 Bill Lawrence Ron Snow Terry Hoye Pat Buckley lost 16 - 24 After 10 ends this rink were in control and led 11 - 6. They extended their lead to 15 - 6 after 12 ends, but then Caterham took control and dominated the next 8 ends scoring a total of 18 shots without reply. The rink eventually lost by 8 shots. Rink 2 Brian Kenyon Eric Brown Peter Miller Les Owen lost 12 - 18 This rink found themselves 4 - 10 down after 10 ends, but fought back to level the scores 10 - 10 after 15 ends. Caterham finished well and Epsom lost on this rink by 4 shots. Rink 5 John Hart Cyril Newman George Sperring Graham Naish won 18 - 16 Epsom held a 3 shot advantage, 11 - 8 after 10 ends and a 4 shot lead, 15 - 11 after 15 ends. The last few ends were evenly contested, but Epsom won by 2 shots. Final Score: Epsom 60 Caterham 76 Epsom 1 point Caterham 5 points
Ladies Details: Rink 4 Audrey Jones Ruth Nixon Sylvia Pearce Eileen Mills won 27 - 7 Epsom was in control of this game all afternoon. They led 14 - after 10 ends, 16 - 6 after 15 ends and finished strongly going on to win by 20 shots. Rink 6 Sandra Huxford Jo Ellis Anne Hoffmann Gill Sperring lost 8 - 22 Quite the opposite happened on this rink with Caterham having the upper hand. Epsom trailed 5 - 12 after 10 ends, 7 - 17 after 15 ends and eventually lost by 14 shots. Final Score: Epsom 35 Caterham 29 Epsom 3 points Caterham 1 point. Mixed Friendly match v Esher Details: Rink 2 Sylvia Smart Derek Jones Derek Hoffmann Jo Ellis won 19 - 8 Epsom was 9 - 3 up after 10 ends and continued to play well to go on to win by 11 shots. Rink 3 Audrey Jones David Ruston Brian Kenyon won 21 - 9 This rink played with one player short, but led 10 - 6 after 10 ends and went on to win by 12 shots. Rink 4 Eddie Needham Vic Phillips Sandra Huxford Geoff Purrott won 20 - 19 This rink were involved in a very hard game all afternoon. They were 5 - 9 down after 10 ends, but fought back well to secure a win by just 1 shot. Rink 5 Sue Needham Olive Phillips Arthur Upward Eric Brown lost 9 - 23 This rink struggled all afternoon and found themselves 4 - 13 behind after 10 ends. They continued to be outplayed and lost by 14 shots. Final Result: Epsom 69 Esher 59 With just one match left this season Epsom have won 6 out 8 matches, losing just 2. |

Club Finals - Sunday 4th September 2011 Men’s Handicap Singles: John Hart v John Warren John Hart was
in control of this game from the start. He led 10 - 6 after 10
ends, 15 - 10 after 15 ends and won 23 - 10 after 18 ends. Sue Needham, Maureen Trumble & Eileen Mills Eileen and
her team were ahead all through this game. They led 4 - 12 after
just 5 ends, extended their lead to 19 - 7 after 10 ends and completed
the win 25 - 11. (Gill & her team conceded after 15 ends). Ken Rogers, Cyril Newman & Graham Naish After 10 ends
Graham's team led 11 - 6 and continued to dominate the game going on to
win 20 - 13. Sandra was in
control all through this game. She led 7 - 4 after 5 ends,
extended her lead to 18 - 4 after 10 ends. She completed the win
21 - 12 after 18 ends. This was a
very close, excellent game of bowls. Brian led 9 - 6 after 10
ends, but David went ahead 13 - 11 after 15 ends. Brian then came
back to take the lead 18 - 15. The last few ends displayed a very
high standard of bowls from both players with David snatching a win 21 -
19 on the 24th end. Maggie led
throughout this game right up to the 18th end when she led 13 - 10.
Lyz finished strongly scoring one single and two 2's to win 15 - 13. Graham went into this game looking for a fourth title in Finals Weekend. However, he was outplayed by Les who dominated the game right from the start. Les led 12 - 5 after 10 ends, 20 - 6 after 15 ends and completed an outstanding win 21 - 7 on the 17th end. This is the third time that Les has won the Men's Championship singles. Ladies’ Championship Singles: Gill Sperring v Jan Allum Gill
outplayed Jan all afternoon. The game was all over after just 13
ends with Gill winning 21 - 4. This is the 5th time Gill has won
the Ladies Championship singles. Audrey was
looking for her second title of the weekend. She had an excellent
game and led throughout the afternoon. She led 10 - 6 after 10
ends, 14 - 8 after 15 ends and won comfortably 23 - 10. The Finals Weekend was finished off with the 100 Up Final. This was a very close game with David winning 101 - 99.

This was Graham's first Trophy at Epsom Bowling Club. Men's Lower Handicap Singles - David Hutchinson v Bob Blaker Bob played very well in this game and led 9 - 1 after just 5 ends. He continued to dominate the game finally winning 21 - 8. This was Bob's first trophy at Epsom Bowling Club. Men's Handicap Pairs - Derek Martin/David Sowdon v Alan Wybrow/Stefan Tomm Although David & Martin led after 5 ends they were soon overtaken and dominated by Alan & Stefan for the rest of the game. After 15 ends Alan & Stefan were in control and led 23 - 10. This was due to them scoring a total of 17 shots without reply over 8 ends. Alan & Stefan won comfortably 29 - 11. Ladies' Handicap Pairs - Audrey Jones/Anne Hoffmann v Ann Bailey/Gill Sperring This was a very close game after 10 ends when Audrey & Anne held a 3 shot advantage. After 17 ends the scores were level 16 - 16, but Audrey & Anne won the last 3 ends to win 20 - 17. This is Audrey's first competition success at Epsom Bowling Club. This was Audrey's first Trophy at Epsom Bowling Club. Men's Handicap Fours - Derek Martin/Len Philpott/Geoff Purrott/Graham Naish v Tony Brydges/Tony Jackman/Ken Lacey/Pat Buckley This was a close game up to end 14 when Pat's team were 13 - 9 ahead. Graham's rink then won the next 5 ends scoring a total of 15 shots to win 24 - 13. Ladies' Two Wood Plate - Jo Ellis v Eileen Mills Jo was in control of this game right from the start. She led 8 - 1 after 8 ends, 12 - 6 after 14 ends and went on to win 16 - 9. Mixed Pairs - Sylvia Smart/Cyril Newman v Gill & George Sperring The handicap difference in this game gave Sylvia & Cyril a 12 shot start. They went on to go ahead 27 - 0, but Gill & George came back slowly, but could not score more that one or two shots per end. They were still behind 14 - 30 after 15 ends and they finally conceded on the 18th end giving Sylvia & Cyril a 35 - 15 shots win. This was Sylvia's first Trophy at Epsom Bowling Club.
