Epsom Trophies

Below is a list of all Epsom Trophies awarded at the end of the season. During the many years of its existence there have been one or two 'oddities'.

In 1937 the name of Mrs H M Wells is engraved on the Squarey Cup (Men's Handicap Singles).  It has emerged, (allegedly), that Mrs Wells was asked to enter the competition by the men to make up the numbers - with little hope of winning!!  Well she won and caused uproar amongst the men .  Apparently Mrs Wells was helping the club in some administrative capacity, and because of the fuss her win caused she left the club!

In the Cedar Cup (Men's Fours) there are two years in which Ladies have won!  In 1932 Mrs Wells played and in 1948 Mrs Russell played.  There is no record of any explanation why this occurred.

First winners - these are noted as the records show.  If more data comes to light these will be up dated.
