Ladies

 

Friendly Matches

 

Of the 25 scheduled games 22 were played.  Epsom won 12 , lost 9 , drew 1 and 3 were cancelled.  In total 1081 shots were scored for and 1142 against.

In all 25 Ladies represented Epsom in the Friendly matches in 2009.

Of the 62 rinks played 30 rinks were won , 29 lost and 3 drawn .

The best match win came against Ewell 79 - 35 (+44) and the best rink win was in the same match, 26 - 11 (+15).

These are the most significant appearances in the Friendly matches by the Ladies:

East Surrey League Matches

 

There were 8 games scheduled and 8 played.  Of these 3 were won 5 lost.  269 shots were scored for and 339 shots against.  The Ladies gained 11˝ points with 20˝ against.

The highest win was the 38 - 30, +8 win against Godstone on the 28th June.  The best rink win was 26 - 11, +15 against Old Coulsdon on the 30th May.

Of the 16 rinks played, 5 were won, 11 lost and 0 drawn.

15 Ladies played this year in the League.  Eileen Mills, Gill Sperring & Lyz Warren played in all 8 games.  Anne Hoffmann played in 7 and Sandra Huxford, Sylvia Pearce & Dolly Snow played in 5.

 

Men

 

Friendly Matches

 

Of the 17 matches scheduled 15 were played.  Epsom won 10, Lost 5  and Drew 0.  1467 shots were scored for and 1290 against.

70 rinks were played with 42 being won, 26 lost and 2 drawn.

The best win came against Sutton & District 157 - 97 (60 shots).  The best rink win came against Surrey Presidents 34 - 8 (26 shots).

In all 42 members represented the Club in Friendly matches.

Significant appearances in Friendly games are as follows:-

Bill Lawrence & John Warren 14, Geoff Purrott & Eric Brown 13, Les Owen 12, Brian Kenyon, Martin Harbottle & Peter Humphreys 11, Derek Hoffmann & Tony Jackman 10.

 

East Surrey League Matches

 

All 15 games were completed as scheduled.  Of these Epsom won 9, Lost 5 and Drew 1.

1315 shots were scored for and 1077  against.   Epsom gained 56 points and ended up 4th in the League.

The best win this year was against Dorking 122 - 48 (+74 shots) and the best rink win came in the same game,

33 - 7.

Of the 60 rinks played 37 were won and 23 lost.

29 members played in the League in 2009 with John Huxford, Derek Jones & Alan Wybrow playing their very first game in 2009.

Peter Miller played in all 15 games.  Other significant appearances were:-

Of the10 Special games arranged 6 were won & 4 lost.  There were 6 Men only games, 3 mixed games & 1 Ladies only game. The shots scored for were 1160 and 1129 against.

Chrystie League

 

All 10 games were completed as scheduled.  This year Epsom won 5 and lost 5. They ended up with 23 points.

The highest total shots scored in a match was on 20th July against Brockham & on 10th August against Leatherhead when the combined score was 67 shots - both Epsom wins.

Of the 20 rinks played 13 were won and 7 rinks lost.

17 members represented Epsom in the Chrystie League in 2009.  Significant appearances were:-

Ken Lacey & Ken Phillpot 9; Bob Lister & Fred Read 8; Roy Doughty 7; Ron Snow & Alan Wybrow 6 and Derek Jones 5.

 

Mixed matches

 

12 games were scheduled and 11 played.  Of these 7 were won, 4 lost and 1 cancelled. 1008 shots were scored for and 886 against.

the highest winning match score difference was +75 against Ashtead on 12th July when Epsom won 156 - 81.  The highest rink score occurred in the same game with a win of 41 - 12, +29 shots.

Of the 50 rinks played 31 were won, 18 lost and 1 drawn.

23 Ladies and 37 Men represented the Club in these Mixed Matches. Significant appearances were:
