Ward Cup

The delayed Ward Cup took place on Friday 4th September 2026.

Details:

Rink 6 David Fearn v Richard Senior 18 - 21

Richard led 14 - 10 after 11 ends, but David won the next 4 ends to lead 17 - 14.  Richard then won 5 of the last 6 ends played to win by 3 shots.

Mixed Friendly

Epsom played away against Epsom Park in a Mixed Friendly match on Thursday 3rd September 2026.  They won on 2 rinks, lost on 2 rinks & won overall 70 - 61. After 9 ends across the 4 rinks Epsom led 35 - 25 & were 17 shots ahead (62 - 45) on ends 15.  They won by 9 shots.

Details:

Rink 2  Penny Payne Phil Sims Fred Read won 28 - 8

Epsom led 14 - 3 after 9 ends & 26 - 6 on end 15.  They won by 20 shots.

Rink 3  Liz Hind Trish Southgate John Warren lost 14 - 21

Epsom led 10 - 4 after 9 ends & 14 -10 on end 13.  They lost the remaining ends to lose by 7 shots.

Rink 4  Sandy Cooper Frances Suttonwood Bob Blaker won 19 - 16

Epsom were 7 - 8 down after 9 ends, but the scores were level 15 - 15 on end 16.  They won by 3 shots.

Rink 5  Karen Pitt Barry Jordan Mick Cooper  lost 9 - 16

Epsom were 4 - 10 down after 9 ends & 7 - 15 behind on end 15.  They lost by 7 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 70  Epsom Park 61

Mixed Friendly

Epsom played Horley at home in a Mixed Friendly match on Wednesday 2nd September 2026. They won on 3 rinks, lost on 1 rink & won overall 86 - 57.  After 9 ends across the 4 rink Epsom led 43 - 33 & were 28 shots ahead (75 - 47) on ends 15.  They won by 29 shots.

Rink 1  Penny Payne Richard Price David Fearn  won 18 - 17

Epsom were 10 - 12 down after 9 ends, but the scores were level 15 - 15 on end 14.  The scores were still level 17 - 17 with 1 end to play.  Epsom scored 1 shot to win by 1.

Rink 2  Ray Evans Trish Southgate Frank Thompson  lost 17 - 18

Epsom were 7 - 11 down after 9 ends, but the scores were level 13 - 13 on end 13.  They then led 17 - 14 going into the last end, but dropped 4 shots to lose by 1.

Rink 5  Liz Hind Mick Cooper Fi Drinkall  won 29 - 8

Epsom led 19 - 0 after 8 ends & 26 - 2 on end 13.  They won by 21 shots.

Rink 6  Sandy Cooper Barry Jordan Les Owen  won 22 - 14

Epsom were 7 - 8 down after 9 ends, but took the lead 12 - 11 on end 12.  They won the next 4 ends to lead 22 - 11 & won by 8 shots.

Final Score: Epsom 86  Horley 57

Vilamoura Mixed League

Epsom played Sutton in the Vilamoura Mixed League on Tuesday 1st September 2026.  They won at home & away and the match 46 - 22 (6 - 0). After 9 ends across the two rinks Epsom led 30 - 6 & were 20 shots ahead (39 - 19) on ends 15.  They won by 24 shots.

Details:

Home: Nick Rowan Trish Southgate Mary Green  won 20 - 10

Epsom led 13 - 2 after 9 ends & 15 - 8 on end 15.  They won by 10 shots.

Away: Sue Carter Liz Hind Phil Sims  won 26 - 12

Epsom led 17 - 4 after 9 ends & 24 - 11 on end 15.  They won by 14 shots.

Final Score:  Epsom 46  Sutton 22  Epsom 6 points  Sutton 0 points

Sue Carter played in her very first Vilamoura Mixed match.

Sutton & District Bowling Association - June Hope Cup

Congratulations to our very own Fi Drinkall for reaching the final of the Ladies June Hope Cup. The final will be played on Saturday 19th September 2026 at Southey Bowling Club (time to be announced).

In reaching the final Fi beat Grace Stanley (Walligton), Jackie Davies (Supreme) & Jackie Cole (Carshalton).  She now plays Jemma Kirby (Chipstead) in the final.
