Website reaches 100,000 hits on 20th May 2019 after being launched in May 2005.

Epsom Men lose their first match since 31/08/16 (38 matches) on 23/05/19.

Epsom Men win their 100th match in the Chrystie League v Bookham on 17/06/19.

Epsom 'A' & Epsom 'B' lose in the Semi Final of the Past Times.

Dave Pearce & Terry Berry reached the Semi Final of the BLESMA Pairs.

110th Anniversary - Men'  Match against the Surrey Presidents on Tuesday 3rd September - lost 105 - 134.

Epsom join the Vilamoura League & win the title at the first time of asking.

The Men's Bowling Committee decided to discontinue the Handicap Fours Competition & replace it with an 'Australian Handicap Pairs' on a trial period.

Epsom Men won the Chrystie League.  Epsom 'A' reached the Semi Final of the Past Times Trophy & the Semi Final of the Sutton & District BA Yonwin Cup. .Epsom Men went unbeaten in Friendly matches during the season.

Epsom Men come 2nd in the East Surrey League.

2016

Lyz Warren donated £4,000 to be used for the new kitchem

Dolly Snow donated a sum of money in memory of Tom also to be used for the new kitchen.

Maureen Trumble donated a Flag Pole in memory of her husband Percy.

A new kitchen is installed & new carpeting in the veranda.

The Co-op Funeralcare (arranged by A& E Longhurst who are part of Funeralcare) donated equipment to the Club, including 14 mats, Score Card Holders, Cloths, Pens & Pencils.

National Counties Building Society renew their link with Epsom Bowling Club (donating £250)

Successful Pirates Barbeque & Queen's Birthday Celebrations

Life Member Vera Deane passed away on 18th August 2016

Epsom lost in the Final of the Mole Valley Cup.  Epsom Men reach the Final of the Yonwin Cup for the 12th time and lost to Cheam 51 - 80.

Sandra & John Huxford won the St Raphael Mixed Pairs 21 - 12. (Sutton & District Bowling Association).

John Meningen qualified for his Surrey County Badge.

Epsom were undefeated in Mixed matches (13 games played).

2015

Surrey Turf Management took over the running of the green.

Club contacted by relative of our first President Frank Harry Trower (1909).

The Club received a donation of £5,000 in memory of Laurie Mills, former member, who passed away in January 2015.

The Club received a donation from the family of Reg Grady for £5,000 in memory of Reg.

John Warren qualified for his Surrey County Badge in the Unbadged Singles.

Epsom Men - Brian Kenyon, Andrew Turnbull, John Warren & John Huxford won the Area 3 Top 4.

John Huxford donated a Cup for the Runners up in the Men's Triples.

Terry Hoye donated a Cup for the Men's Fours Runners Up

Epsom joined the Spitfire League at Donyngs Indoor Bowling Club.

Epsom win the Eric Hingston Cup for the very first time beating King George IBC

Epsom beaten finalists in the Mole Valley Cup (Indoors).

Epsom Ladies join the Smith Trophy Two Wood Triple League. (Resigned in 2014)

Vera Deane becomes a Life Member of Epsom Bowling Club.

Epsom BC hosted the Sutton & District Bowling Association Finals on 21st September which was very successful.

2012

Membership Fee for 2012 - £140.  Lyz Warren became the first Lady member to become Club Secretary of Epsom Bowling Club.

The Ladies lose in the Final of the Past Times Competition.

The Men lost in the Final of the Yonwin Cup the East Surrey League Top 10 & came 2nd in the East Surrey League. Bowls4free was a cash initiative from Surrey Bowls Alliance taken up with enthusiasm by Sandra Huxford, EBC Publicity Officer, and her team, which
resulted in the Club holding a very successful Open Day on Saturday 19 May 2012. Helped by good weather the Open Day was attended by nearly 30 visitors and supported by many Club members. Our Club coaches offered up to four free coaching sessions to 17 potential members which resulted in three new lady and six new men members, for which Surrey Bowls Alliance awarded EBC a grant of £190.

A very successful day of bowling (and dressing up in red, white & blue) on 5th June to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

Colin & Ruth Hunt made Life Members of Epsom Bowling Club.

2011

John Hart, George Sperring, Les Owen & Graham Naish lost in the Area Final of the Surrey Fours.

Fencing replaced.  Hot water cylinder installed.  Ban on smoking on the green & within 1 metre of the playing surface introduced.

An Honours board fell down (no one hurt) & pigeons caused problems in the loft.

David Sowdon presents three trophies (silver plates) to the Club - Runner Up 100 Up,  Runner Up Mixed Singles & Runners Up in the Men's Pairs.

Sandra Huxford & David Sowdon won the S&DBA St Raphael Mixed Pairs. The Men lost in the Final of the Yonwin Cup.

Accident book records incident when a chair collapsed under Anne Hoffmann.  The report makes more of an issue re the chair than Anne!!

Snoring noise heard from under the bar - just Ron Snow doing repairs!!

It was decided at a Men's Bowling Committee meeting to discontinue Affiliation with the London & Southern Counties Bowling Association.

2010

Money prizes for Club Competitions discontinued.

Maggie O'Sullivan qualified for her Surrey County Badge.  Pat Buckley qualified for his Surrey County Badge and reached the Semi Final of the Un Badged Singles.  Maggie O'Sullivan, Anne Hoffmann, Eileen Mills & Gill Sperring reached the Semi Final of the Surrey Fours.

Epsom men reached the Final of the Yonwin Cup for the 9th time, but were beaten by Cheam.  Epsom 'B' lost in the Final of the Past Times Competition. In the East Surrey League Epsom come second, ½ point behind the winners.  Many records were broken in the East Surrey League in 2010.

Geoff Purrott, Cyril Newman, Pat Buckley & Peter Miller win the Epsom 'Event' becoming the first Epsom Team to achieve this.

2009

Mrs Joan Reynolds (wife of past member Geoff) donates £1,000 to the Club.  This to go towards a trophy called the Geoff Reynolds Cup.  A new '100 Up' competition to be run in 2009.  £500 donated from the late Vic Shrosbree Estate.

Centenary Brochure produced.  Centenary stickers and Centenary metal badge obtained for all members.

New cooker (Stove) purchased for £1,299.  Gas pipes laid by member Stefan Tomm. 

Fox Fences up graded with backing fence for better security.  New Security gate erected by Peter Miller.  Epsom reach the Semi Final of the Jubilee Cup (Indoor at King George).

Several Special Games arranged.

Gala Day a huge success on 18th July with over 40 members dressing up in Period Costume.  View photos on this Web Site.

Maggie O'Sullivan, Eileen Mills & Gill Sperring reached the Semi Final of the Surrey Triples.  Ron Snow, Ron Mew & David Sowdon lost in the Area Final of the Surrey Triples.

Graham Pilbrow won the Paston Cup for the 6th time.

2008

In recognition of their past outstanding services to the club the following members were elected Club Honorary Vice Presidents:-

Cyril Newman, George Sperring & Gill Sperring.  John Warren was elected Club Secretary.

The Estate of Cyril Godwin presented a bench to the Club.  David Ruston becomes SCBA Patrons Delegate.

The change of status to 'Community Amateur Sports Club' has again brought benefits to the Club.  100% Rate Relief this year.

Donations to Club & Centenary Funds in some cases have allowed the Club to claim Gift Aid Tax Relief.

Donations to the Centenary Fund include £500 from Tony Jackman, £250 anonymous gift & £157 from Geoff Purrott.

£300 from National Counties Building Society has been put in the General Fund.  Harold Yates has left £2,000 to the Club in his will.

Sadly Epsom Bowling Club has lost many members over the last year.  These members contributed a great deal to the Club in many different ways.  We acknowledge their contribution to the Epsom Bowling Club.  These were:-

Peter Burn, Cyril Godwin, Geoff Reynolds, Vic Shrosbree, Harold Yates, and Richard Long.

Eileen Mills lost in the Final of the Surrey Women's Bowling Association Singles Championship Final.

Graham Pilbrow won the Paston Cup for a record 5th time.  Brian Kenyon, John Hart & Graham Pilbrow lost in the Area Final of the Surrey Triples.

Epsom Men won the East Surrey League Top 10 Competition beating Warlingham Park 71 - 70.

2007

Epsom Bowling Club adopts a No Smoking Policy in all its buildings from Midnight on 12th January 2007.  Bill Ellis & Eileen Godfrey are elected as Honorary Vice-Presidents of the Club in recognition of their past outstanding services to the Club.

Subscription - £100

Extracts from amendments to dress code as follows:-  For all Men's matches commencing before 6.00pm, Finals Days events and certain Tournaments, dress on the green will be white tailored trousers or shorts and white shirt, Club tie. Shirts reflecting the Club's registered colours may be worn, at the discretion of the Captain, for any specified games or outside competitions, subject to E.B.A. ruling that, in any such competitions, team members must wear the same attire, either colour or white shirts.

At the Men's AGM it was agreed to replace 'Trophies to Retain' with a Certificate and gift vouchers.

2006

Paving slabs laid around north & west sides of green & in the area of the gazebo. Thanks to Pat Felloni for donations (in memory of her late husband Joe) for another gazebo and materials for the paving.  Thanks also to Geoff Purrott for his kind donation to purchase edging slabs. New glass unit installed in the patio area at the eastern end of the Clubhouse.

Subscription - £92 for both men & women.  Social Membership - £8

Arthur Upward & Maureen Trumble elected Honorary Vice Presidents. New thermostat installed within Clubhouse.

Someone plants Palm Tree in the middle of the green - on April 1st!!  Fortunately the damage was easily repaired.

The Epsom Four of Martin Harbottle, Ted Ray, Pat Buckley & Peter Miller win the Area 3 Top Four Competition beating Epsom Park in the Final 18 - 13.  The men reached the Final of the East Surrey League Top 10 Competition.

Epsom Ladies win East Surrey League.

It was agreed at the Executive Meeting held on Wednesday 13th September to make Ron Perkins a Club Honorary Life Member in recognition of his past service and fifty years membership of the Club. Also to Vic Shrosbree for his efforts in organising and running the 100 Club, keeping day to day records of all Club matches played, assisting with the Sunday Morning Invitation competition and assisting on the Bar Committee.

Repairs to the Clubhouse roof now complete - work guaranteed for 12 years.

The change of Club status to a 'Community Amateur Sports Club'  has brought benefits to the Club, in particular 90% Rate Relief from the Borough Council & Gift Aid Tax Relief on donations.  Small surplus reported in Finance.

Harry Partington's ashes scattered on the flower bed outside the visiting dressing room.

Borough Council gives club 90% discount on rates.  Bridge & Whist sections contribute handsomely to funds. National Counties Building Society & Messrs Truelove support club with cash sponsorship of £250 & £200 respectively. WS Atkins continue to support.  Members' donations & donations for pavilion use also came to generous total.

Gift Aid Tax relief giving extra bonus.  Centenary reserve set up to help celebrate Centenary in 2009 - £200 (Truelove Sponsorship,

£113 remaining from Mrs O'Connor's £5,000 legacy to help set it up.

Bar profits down on 2004.  New stronger Marquee purchased. OOPS!  Someone dumped a car in the car park - removed without cost!  Striped marquee popped over the fence & shattered glass in one of the doors in the pavilion.  Big improvement on state of green.

Social - successful Car Boot Sale, Coach trips to Warwick Castle & De Panne, Belgium. Bridge/Short Mat well attended.

Administration -  Club now - 'Community Amateur Sports Club'.  Immediate benefit being 80% Mandatory Rate Relief plus a further

10% Discretionary Relief from the local council.  Club had to pay £367 to cover Premises Licence. Gaming Licence extended for further 5 years.  The Newsletter was taken over by Les Owen.

Epsom Ladies win East Surrey League.  Peter Miller started 'Miller's' Triples - an end of season idea to encourage competitive bowling after Finals Day.  Teams to be made up of Men, Ladies or mixed.

2004

Mrs Eileen Mills becomes the first Female President of Epsom Bowling Club.

Far end of pavilion reconstructed by Peter Miller to give disabled access and an additional fire exit. (assisted by Bob Coppard-plumbing, Bill Lawrence, Geoff Purrott & Derek Barnes). Ladies changing rooms up dated and refurbished.

Epsom win Chrystie League.  Les Owen & George Sperring reach the Quarter Finals of the Surrey Pairs.

Bill Lawrence, Bill Sandford & George Sperring reach the Semi Final of the Arthur Hughes Triples.

Mrs Eileen Mills reaches the Semi Final of the Surrey Champion of Champions.

Eileen Mills & Graham Pilbrow reached the Final of the St Raphael Mixed Pairs.

A clock was presented to the Club in memory of Jack Pilbrow.

2003

Legacy of £5000 donated to club. Dennis Neville is awarded the Leopard Award.

The men reached the Final of the East Surrey League Top 10 Competition.  Epsom win Yonwin Cup beating Malden & Coombe 63 - 54.  Mrs Jill Harris, Mrs Joan Robson & Mrs Eileen Mills reach the quarter finals of the Surrey Triples.  Lost in the Semi Final of the Jubilee Cup (Indoor at King George).

2002

Kitchen redecorated and new cupboards and counter top installed. Television set donated to club.  Generous discount  on rates achieved. Bridgewater continuing to support club.  End of season Tour to Torquay very successful.

Peter Miller, Dave Sowdon, Clive Allum, Peter Pearce & Stefan Tomm win their Surrey County Badge.  Dave Sowdon & Archie Flashman reach the Area Final of the Over 55's Pairs. Peter Miller & Graham Pilbrow reach the Quarter Finals of the Surrey Pairs.

Graham Pilbrow reached the Final of the Paston Cup & the Semi Finals of the Surrey Singles.  Mrs Jan Allum reaches the quarter final of the Surrey Singles.  Mrs Freda Starkey, Mrs Eileen Mills, Mrs Janet Cheesman & Mrs Gill Sperring reach the Final of the Surrey Fours.

2001

Sponsorship with Bridgewater continued.  Fruit machine showed surplus of £1500 (£10 made two years ago!) Bar showed slight increase in profits.  Entrance gate painted in Club colours.  Improved lighting in car park. Ladies kept windows clean assisted by one man who did the high ones! Clock repaired after all and back in action. 92nd year successful not only on the green and social events, but also in the administration of the club.  Bob Coppard reaches the Final of the Surrey Un Badged Singles.  Epsom join the Chrystie League (formed in 2000).  Lost in the Final of the Jubilee Cup (Indoor at King George).

2000

Sadia boiler thermostat renewed.  Outside clock ceased to function! Yellow lines were put down by entrance gate to keep a clear space for disabled visitors and the bell at this gate renewed.  Further concern regarding decline in bowling members.

The men reached the Final of the East Surrey League Top 10 Competition.

Les Owen & Graham Pilbrow reached the Quarter Final of the Worthing Open Singles.  Peter Pearce & Les Owen reached the Final of the BLESMA Pairs. Les Owen reached the Quarter Final of the Surrey Singles.  Ladies finalists in the East Surrey League.
